Hook by Todd English

Got invited to dinner and met Chef Todd English at @toddenglishfoodhallmnl because he himself was cooking! 🎉

Poké and avocado on crispy rice - part of their menu for the next #ToddEnglish concept 🐟

A hearty dish of mantis prawns on grits - hits the spot! #ToddEnglish

Mantis Prawn Grits

My personal favorite ‪#‎ToddEnglish‬ dish of the night, Hook Boulliabasse--- a smooth home made seafood broth. This was topped with this insane Gruyer Toasties which I gobbled down in 5 seconds. 😂 Oh well. Haha! This was awesome stuff.

The rock star treatment for this dish: bone marrow custard with escargot. Nuts!

Lugang

New stuff alert!!!! Try these dishes at one of my favorite bang-for-the-buck restaurants, @lugangcafe  Super yummy Three Cup Squid, clams in steamed custard, this killer Napa cabbage with sliced pork, and finally a bowl of what I want to call "Sukigang" - the Taiwanese love child of sukiyaki and sinigang: thinly cut beef belly in a miso and preserved vegetable soup! All quite good! CHECK IT!

Heneral Tso

In the midst of rumors of American Chinese food giant Panda Express coming to our shores, here's something to check out. It's a fascinating eye opener on Americanized Chinese food and why it is why it is -- and an equally compelling search on the origins of General Tso's Chicken. smile emoticon Fun - and now on .. ahem.. Netflix.

Un Cuenca

I'm a fan of Chef Ariel Manuel. He's the kind of cook anyone can love - he just wants to make you good food without any fanfare. With the shutting down of Lolo Dad's (2013), I waited for the next chapter to come around.

Chef Ariel Manuel together with another favorite Chef Sunshine Puey Pengson. Taken during  Madrid Fusion Manila 2015 where they showcased their food for the Visayan Regional lunch.

Here's the first paragraph at Un Cuenca in Alabang. This is gooooood: a mustardy spin on salpicao. 😜

One of my favorites for the evening -- a light and tasty jar of house made sardines, seasoned just right.
